Found on the Dorset coast, as well as further inland, the Fossil forest was formed when mud collected around the bottom of trees which had grown during a period of low water levels. This mud hardened to the Limestone we see today.

The Durdle Door is a natural Limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast.
